"Resting Point" presents a scene of intriguing contradictions. A man in a formal black suit and white shirt dominates the foreground, his face contorted in a scream. Juxtaposed against his distress is a bright pink flamingo float serenely bobbing in a pool of water. The center of the painting offers a stark contrast: a young woman, clad in a dark swimsuit, sits peacefully on a ledge and she gazes serenely into the distance, at a mid-century modern… chair, her back turned to the viewer, seemingly oblivious to the chaos in front of her. A glass of water sits untouched on a side table beside the chair, adding to the sense of tranquility.

The title "Resting Point" becomes a source of tension, forcing the viewer to question where, or for whom, this supposed haven might exist. The painting is an exploration of contrasting emotions. Overall, the painting is a thought-provoking commentary on the human condition.

Jack Avetisyan is an Armenian-American artist whose paintings display various distinctive identities.
