About this artwork
Ghost is a meditation on the vulnerability of our ecosystem. The ‘ghost’ in question is coral reefs and their subsequent bleaching process as a result of sea temperature increase. I applied vast amounts of copper and iron, layer by layer over the course of almost a year. Each layer was weathered and oxidised to create the green patina you can see. They form organically into shimmering clusters that have the impression of being suspended under water.…
This painting continues to oxidise over time, so the colours constantly shift.
