About this artwork
“Mirage in the desert” is a large-format material figurative that recalls the cycle of earth cities.
The subject is an interpretation of the red earth city of Ouarzazate in Morocco, where the natural landscape is transformed by evolving in this volumetric metamorphosis. An agglomeration of homes and fortifications leaning against the mountain.
It is a subject that seems to appear from matter, becoming more and more defined, as in a dreamlike vision,… taking up typical archaic forms, evoking the majesty of an ancient civilization.
The context, the terrain, the mountain, the sky, become elements that blend together without limits.
This canvas brings the energy of a mirage into your home, throbbing with stories and warmth, enveloping and mysterious like an embrace of hot sand.
Jacopo Berlendis, architect and painter, explores the fusion between design and art by cultivating natural and transformative themes. He uses earth and vegetation, modeling them in three-dimensional works which with acrylics and pigments interpret landscapes animated by a powerful physicality. His creations evoke a feeling of regeneration, revealing underground worlds of sublime material metamorphosis.
