About this artwork
At a microscopic level, Jacquelyn is inspired by the reverse space and vastness within the tiniest aspects of life. She sees a real beauty of within enlarged particles of things like dust, cells and bacterium under the microscope.
Sweepings of dust from Jacquelyn’s studio floor were put under the microscope. These little particles created energetic visual patterns. They almost seemed to emit a life force of their own. Exploiting this vision, together… with her materials and mark making, Jacquelyn painted to recreate the feelings of excitement and vibrancy of discovering these tiny particles. The brush marks are quite primitive and repetitive. And working the gestural mark over and over in layers and layers she tried to form a kind of tension or inner force across the surface of the painting. Jacquelyn wanted the painting to have a kind of erratic energy, beautiful and vibrant.
Signed, titled and dates on the back.
Sides of painting are painted back to complement the artwork.
