About this artwork
In the town of Juchitán, Oaxaca, we hear the story of a white-backed iguana that does not go out to sunbathe during the day like all iguanas. It is a very elusive iguana because it is the only one with a white back, it knows it and does not allow visitors to Juchitán to see it.
« Not everyone who sings is a singer. Also, not everyone who paints is a painter in the same way that not every painter is an artist. You must have talent, creativity, and discipline. »
Jaime Lupercio is a prize-winning painter and printmaker who resides in Mexico. His works have been widely exhibited nationally, as well as in Ecuador, Switzerland, Italy, and the United States. He describes the themes of his compositions as extremely varied, including the neighbor's dog, to the night magic of the caves in the Arcanos. Lupercio's style is defined within Neo-Mexicanism and magical realism which is dictated by the forms, colors, and themes used.
