About this artwork
This acrylic work represents an abstract synthesis of the Laguna Negra de Urbión, a place to which the poet Antonio Machado gave literary resonance when he wrote and published "The Legend of Alvargonzález." This impressive landscape of the glacial lagoon becomes a key setting and a judicial agent that punishes greed and crime. It expresses the complexity and chaos of our emotions. With abstract strokes and a sober palette, I sought to capture the… majesty of this landscape where this legend begins and ends.
Jaime Martínez Valero works with painting, drawing, printmaking, and especially sculpture, supported by a solid background in fine arts. His works explore simple, post-minimalist geometric forms with an intimate approach, creating portable pieces that invite deep contemplation. Through the austerity and openness of his forms, he conveys serenity, silence, and an intense beauty linked to simplicity, seeking to inspire the viewer to experience peace and an intimate emotional connection with the work.
