About this artwork
Hibiscus is a genus of plants in the mallow family. It is quite large, containing about 200–220 species that are native to warm regions throughout the world. James painted this piece in my studio in Melaque Mexico, the light and warmth could not be duplicated anywhere else. James says "whenever I see this painting I remember vividly what it was like to be there painting under the warm tropical sun".
