About this artwork
The natural beauty of this flower was heightened for James by its location. He was living in Melaque Mexico at this time, a typical village community on the dusty, sandy west coast of Mexico. Despite the surroundings, and without any significant help from the inhabitants, these magnificent plants push there way up, and flourish there.
