Jan enjoys painting water into a paintings because it gives such a calm feeling so when she started this she began with the water and then built the hills and sky around it. The rich colors make one want to be there - walking on trails and swimming in the lake. Jan Weiss is an American artist who creates a wide range of works, including abstract landscapes, modern designs and works with a clear activist influence. Working principally in acrylics, Weiss starts a painting with an idea, and sometimes a drawing, but more often than not the painting will end up looking completely different from how she first imagined it. In this exploratory approach, Weiss’s paintings develop a life of their own and a distinctive free and uplifting quality.
