About this artwork
This painting is in oils on canvas and has a white wooden frame and is ready for hanging. Like the other Red Landscape it was inspired by a Gillian Ayres painting. Her paintings are about colour and texture and joy and exuberance. I use oil because of the tactile quality and the fact that each brushstroke is visible so there is always a record of each brushstroke. The reds are about energy and joy.
