About this artwork
Painting of an apple tree blooming in May. The season of blooming apples is a very joyful period of the year, full of hope. If the spring weather is warm apples bloom for only a few days; if the weather is cool apples bloom for a week or two. According to the author’s experience, the week(s) of blooming apples passes unnoticed, from year to year, as the busy pace of life does not allow one to stop, take time and enjoy. Usually the bloom is gone leaving…
memories and a vain hope not to miss the season of blooming apples again in the following spring. Year 2020 has been different, however; necessity to work from home and slowing down the rush of life have allowed the author to stop and observe. Maybe, things have not been that bad, after all. Maybe, the clouds of the year 2020 do have a silver edge.

« "There is nothing permanent in this world, except for a moment depicted in a painting." »
Janis Zingitis is a Latvian painter who has exhibited nationally as well as in Austria. He believes that realistic representation is the highest degree of abstraction, as humans are only capable of perceiving a small fraction of reality. Through his compositions, he wants to capture the world’s soul and reveal it to others. In the past, he has worked with watercolors, pastels, acrylics and collage. Currently, he is rediscovering his love of oil painting.
