Painting of a meadow in the high point of summer. The scene depicts a meadow near the artist’s house in Lielvarde area, Latvia, on a hot summer day. A short and precious moment in which the power of life manifests itself in full. Soon the meadow will be mowed down for hay and one will have to wait for the next year to experience it again.

Janis Zingitis is a Latvian painter who has exhibited nationally as well as in Austria. He believes that realistic representation is the highest degree of abstraction, as humans are only capable of perceiving a small fraction of reality. Through his compositions, he wants to capture the world’s soul and reveal it to others. In the past, he has worked with watercolors, pastels, acrylics and collage. Currently, he is rediscovering his love of oil painting.
