About this artwork
While considering works and thinking about the series' intention to bring joy, I began assembling some of my favorite paintings and deconstructed them with a scissors, and placed strips of the paintings side by side until I found a composition that felt joyous and strong.
This piece "Patchwork Planet" is a nod to the beautiful Asian papers, and gift boxes I recall from my youth. The colors and feel of the fabric or paper covered boxes brought a lot… of sunlight into my life and that is the intention of this series.
