About this artwork
While considering works and thinking about the series' intention to bring joy, I began assembling some of my favorite paintings and deconstructed them with a scissors, and placed strips of the paintings side by side until I found a composition that felt joyous and strong.
This piece "Tu Eres Mio" is a remembrance of life in Spanish Harlem; the colors, the food, the music and people. There was so much romance in the air, and everything sounds so lovely… in Spanish, it is such an expressive language!
