About this artwork
In southern Brittany, Guérande is a small city of character, above the salt marshes which have made its reputation for its salt for several centuries. At each tide, a small gulf, almost closed by the port of Le Croisic, fills and empties, sometimes leaving boats stranded on the sandbanks; This marvel of nature is called "the traict". The colors and atmospheres change there constantly, according to the hours of the day, the lights of the sky and the… sea, the ebb and flow of the tides. The traict is represented here by a stormy sky, at low tide, under the silhouette of the magnificent Saint Aubin collegiate church. The colors here are magical.
« The alchemy of the light of the sky and water, the infinite variety of their combined reflections are the basis of the emotions that I invite you to share. »
Jean-Claude Pallier is an experienced artist based in France whose paintings have been exhibited nationally. Inspired by the sea in all its forms, he is equally as fascinated by ships, the light of coastal landscapes, and the atmospheres of ports, which is translated through his works. Pallier creates in a realistic and figurative style, favoring acrylics on linen.
