About this artwork
Under an immaculate azure sky, typical of the Riviera in full Mediterranean light, an elegant silhouette advances with measured steps along a promenade edged with red and ochre.
Dressed in a long, light, pale green dress, its fabric seeming to gently caress her figure in an unseen breeze, she holds aloft a large, tobacco-colored umbrella whose ribs trace a perfect geometric pattern against the horizon. A cream straw hat, adorned with a delicate… flower, frames a face with fine, serene features.
Behind it rises, monumental and somewhat theatrical, the former Hôtel Provençal – a white ghost of a bygone era when the Roaring Twenties danced on the French Riviera.
