About this artwork
“The Horses of the Sea” is a striking composition created by four hands, using oil and ceramics on canvas, with a selective resin finish which gives it a refined appearance and protects the painting. Its dimensions of 100 × 73 cm give it a remarkable presence when displayed.
The painting is mainly dominated by a magnificent gradient of blues which delicately represent the sky, the sea and its waves. Shades of blue suggest the immensity of the ocean,… capturing both its serenity and power. The seagulls, flying gracefully above the sea, are the protagonists of this scene. Their delicate and elegant shapes are made of ceramic and carefully glued to the background of the painting. The ceramics used for the seagulls were created by Cyrille Eibl, bringing an original and complementary artistic collaboration to Venturini's work.
Jean Jacques Venturini is an experienced artist based in France whose paintings have been exhibited nationally, in the United States, China and Italy. When the artist focuses on scenes of life, unknown characters are captured in the intimacy of a closed environment.
