About this artwork
Many years ago, early in my career I painted still life and landscape images. The early still life were painted on canvas board and canvas in acrylics. The palette contained vibrant colours much like I have retained to this day although now I paint exclusively in oils and other oil mediums. Here I am many years later painting a stil life. Living here in SMA I am visited each week by a seller of roses. Each week I buy a dozen of his roses. Adding other flowers made a pretty little arrangement. Jeff Ferst is an American artist born in New York City. Through his mother, he was exposed to many forms of art in New York’s museums. This motivated Ferst to major in printmaking at New York University, graduating with a BA in Fine Art. He now lives in Tucson, Arizona and concentrates on abstract depictions of landscapes.
