About this artwork
One of my happy places is representing landscape as abstraction. This painting while more landscape than abstraction is a combination of both. Flowers, trees, decorated hillsides and sky marked with stripes, circles and other embelishments add colour and texture to the flatter application of paint, oil stick and oil pastel. The image is a rural scene but it is whimsical and happy. The colours are bright and abundant. The painting is meant to share…
joy of nature and joy of life. It represents the city and country life of the Mexican highlands I call home in San Miguel de Allende. The painting edges are painted black and the painting is wired for hanging.

Jeff Ferst is an American artist born in New York City. Through his mother, he was exposed to many forms of art in New York’s museums. This motivated Ferst to major in printmaking at New York University, graduating with a BA in Fine Art. He now lives in Tucson, Arizona and concentrates on abstract depictions of landscapes.
