About this artwork
This is a 100/50 cm iron sculpture with polychrome on both sides with oil paint. This idea came to me several years ago after seeing an exhibition of Alex Katz but I had not had the opportunity to use the laser torch until now. As always I made the template in cardboard that I drew on the iron plate. I cut the shape with the torch and fixed the edges with the radial disk. Then I used a primer to prepare the surface for painting the figure.
My cast… iron sculptural work explores the sturdiness and perpetuity of metal, instilling a sense of eternity and stability. Each shape and curvature is meticulously molded to reflect both the strength and subtlety of the human spirit, offering a piece that invokes contemplation.

Jenifer Carey is a painter, printmaker, and sculptor based in Spain whose works have been exhibited nationally, as well as in Italy and the United Kingdom. Music, especially jazz, is one of the main recurring themes in her art. Carey employs engraving and sculptural techniques for the faces of her subjects, whose hands and movements are always expressive. In addition, she portrays her observations and life experiences in order to "capture a moment". She creates using oils on canvas.
