About this artwork
When I made this two-dimensional iron sculpture of Goya’s “The Third of May,” it was the medium that dictated the message. By using a blowtorch to cut the metal pieces, a burnt edge is left on the pieces, which I perceived as a brilliant approach to express the dramatic scene. So, in this case, the medium dictated the choice of interpretation of this work.
This sculpture is made up of more than 100 pieces of iron welded together to form the scene.…
I created this work out of iron, turning it into a wall sculpture with an aura of drama. Each figure captures the tension of a moment frozen in time, reflecting collective struggle and emotion. This work is not just a piece of art, it is a powerful statement that will fill any space with unparalleled narrative energy, inviting reflection and dialogue.

Jenifer Carey is a painter, printmaker, and sculptor based in Spain whose works have been exhibited nationally, as well as in Italy and the United Kingdom. Music, especially jazz, is one of the main recurring themes in her art. Carey employs engraving and sculptural techniques for the faces of her subjects, whose hands and movements are always expressive. In addition, she portrays her observations and life experiences in order to "capture a moment". She creates using oils on canvas.
