Winter Sun at Birling Gap is a celebratory and playful piece about the simple joy of taking a walk by the seaside on a crisp and sunny winter's day. The Birling Gap is a local beauty spot which enjoyed by people of all ages and this photomontage is from my 'Impossible Panoramas' series - a 'cinematic' portrayal of a moment in time, created from many photos carefully knitted together to create a seamless composite.
The width dimension of this version… of 'Winter Sun at Birling Gap' (105cm x 35cm) is slightly less than the full size image (140cm x 35cm) - also available for purchase here.
The artwork is one of a limited edition of 10 Giclée prints They are printed to order on Hahnemühle PhotoRag paper - a fine art, archival paper. Each print is signed by the artist and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
Jenny Shorter, trained in photography and fine art at Central St Martin's and Westminster, merges decades of graphic design with digital photo-montage, illustration, and surface pattern design. She masterfully combines 30-40 of her own photographs to create intricate, surreal composites inspired by myth, storytelling, and dreamlike visions of both nature and urban scenes. Drawing on early surrealism, her works surprise with impossible panoramas and poetic juxtapositions. Her art invites viewers to experience the hidden mysteries beneath everyday life, evoking fascination and prompting questions about the deceptive realism of photography.
