About this artwork
I went though a phase where all I wanted to do was color field geometric paintings and I got bored quick. And what does Jessica do when she's bored? She doubles down on that shit. So here I am, doing tiny 10x10 paintings, and I'm wanting to do a painting where I'm squinting and swearing like an asshole the whole time. This was the painting that came from that urge to be a masochist. Don't look at it too close, lest it steal your soul.

« Creativity is a path best explored the long way around. »
Jessica Stepushyn’s art was, and still is, driven by the need to socially isolate herself from “the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune”. The Canadian painter and sculptor’s compositions vary widely in their themes, from the concepts of particle and wave physics to geometry, color, and the subconscious. While Stepushyn ‘shuns realism’, she also isn’t averse to creating silly, generic, or superficial pieces. Her style, techniques, and mediums are in a constant state of evolution.
