My ongoing floral series titled “I'll Take Your Picture Under the Dogwood Tree” was originally born out of my panic during lockdown, as I stepped into new motherhood while the world, and much of my career in the photo industry screeched to a halt. As a highly sensitive… individual, I often describe this work as a visual meditation, both in the creation and the viewing of the pieces. These deeply feminine pictures are in constant conversation with our energy centers, as they explore surrender, and the temporary nature of beauty.

Raised by a painter and psychic medium, Jillian Guyette masterfully wielded a camera from age 14, graduating with a Fine Art Photography BFA. Guyette’s style, tactile and analog with medium format cameras, favors film, resulting in rich, textural captures deeply entrenched in realism. Her work, a contemplative lens on natural worlds, women’s familial relationships, and inherited histories, serves as an intimate meditation on her life experiences.
