About this artwork
This is the story of Princess M'Gouaya, born in the shadow of ancient palaces, where the walls held unchanging silences and traditions. She refused the golden chains of her royal destiny: she dreamed of bursts of light that would cross the centuries like a sacred song.
One evening, as the drums called the spirits, she fled towards the ocean; there she met masters of glass and fire who offered her a mask forged from the metal of the stars, a symbol… of her metamorphosis—the very same one which, placed on the glass of a Gothic stained-glass window, captures the light to transform each night into a mosaic of colors.
Since then, it is whispered that his breath travels from continent to continent, free as the air, mixing the wisdom of the ancestors with the audacity of dreams of freedom, and that his laughter resonates in the tinkling of the stained glass windows of majestic cathedrals.
Silver metal sheets, mixed paints, automotive varnish.

Jocelyn FLANDERS

Jocelyn Flanders, alias Djoce, is a French visual artist, painter, sculptor, engraver; he lives and works in the Northeast of France.
A cabinetmaker by trade, he taught himself airbrush painting in the 1980s and began a career in custom vehicle painting as a professional painter in 2000. He honed his skills in airbrush trigger control, pinstriping, applying metal foil, and engraving on motorcycle tanks and other surfaces. Throughout his 40 years of experimentation, a little voice inside whispered to him to take the plunge; in 2021, he embarked on a new adventure: creating works of art, with an idea that seemed obvious to him: to transpose the know-how of customization into the world of art.
His favorite subject is stained glass.
And an ambitious challenge: to create light and translucency on an opaque surface.
