About this artwork
This sculpture represents a new technique incorporating four types of stone and magnets
I began with a relatively thin slab of black and white granite and then decided to add three other stones, two types of onyx and marble. My goal was to inlay the other stones into the granite., but how was I going to attach them? Then the idea of using very strong magnets come to me. The magnets were attached to each set of spheres and placed in the holes in the… granite that were made to receive the spheres. Then end result was a very strong attachment .
