About this artwork
In this work, I sought to capture the fleeting fluidity of human emotions through soft tones and broad, sweeping brushstrokes. Exploring blue allows me to blend nuances to create emotional depth, where each hue subtly influences the viewer's perception.
Thanks to this depth, the painting evokes a constantly transforming flow, where the landscape-universe can be felt as entirely external or profoundly internal, depending on the viewer's perspective.… This ambiguity creates a space for immersion: the viewer can imagine themselves inside a cave, observing the flow of a waterfall outside, or conversely, stand outside, contemplating the waterfall in all its grandeur. This interplay of perspectives enhances the sensory experience of the work, inviting each viewer to project their own emotions onto it and to be carried away by the movement. Through the concept of "Entrechamps" (Between Fields), Johanna-Lisa develops a pictorial practice that transcends mere representation, creating a space of mediation between reality, dreams, and inner experience. The painting is not presented as a closed object, but as a threshold: a device opening onto unknown territories, where the visible extends into a psychic dimension. Nature is not so much a motif as an operator. It unfolds as a space of creation and recreation, where forms recompose and destabilize themselves. Matter and light allow us to experience the power of color and its narrative sequences: they establish rhythms, thresholds of interpretation. The areas of non-figuration establish a dialectic between presence and dissolution, structure and escape. The work is constructed through layers of plastic events that continually shift the viewer's gaze. "Entrechamps" designates this latent space where the essential unfolds: an invitation to extend the image.
