About this artwork
A symbolic painting of a child with a stuffed toy, a swallow and a sunflower. This painting is worked on a re-used canvas. This means it has the texture of a previous work underneath, and the canvas is not perfect. This is deliberate. Since these are paintings of emotions, and our experience of life is always coloured by previous experiences, the re-used canvas symbolises that idea of progress rather than perfection.
This painting will be professionally… framed before shipping. Please allow up to three weeks for this process, which involves ordering moulding and hand-building the frame. The result will be worth it!

« It is not important to make an impression on the world, everyone is trying to do that. What is necessary is to try to imbue in each interaction something which makes it more beautiful. »
For Johanna McWeeney, art has become a necessary part of processing life’s experiences. The UK-based artist continuously explores new themes in her works, while also revisiting common threads such as belonging, identity, connection with nature, as well as the shared spiritual and emotional journey. Her current pieces are made using oils, and McWeeney often incorporates gold leaf to illustrate the juxtaposition of modernity and the traditional.
