About this artwork
In the northern part of Guangdong Province in southern China lies a small town called Shaoguan. Not far from the town is a former military base which used to operate as an experimental facility for research and development in the nuclear programme.
Now abandoned by the military the remnants of the camp are occupied by peasant farmers who are surprised by people who wish to explore the camp but are friendly towards their visitors. The remaining buildings,… some of which are unoccupied, seem totally derelict but ofetn still function as storage of agricultural equipment, animals and crops.
It undoubtedly has charm by virtue of the decay and the interesting textures provided by the objects left about the place. The light on the particular day further enhanced the images.
