About this artwork
The iconic landmark from London situated on the river Thames being the redundant coal fired power station built in the 1930's in the Nine Elms area of Wandsworth and decommissioned in 1975. This image was acquired during the construction process to re-use and adapt the massive structure as a mixed development. The powerful impact of the plant was enhanced by the overcast sky at the moment of capture and subsequent post processing manipulation.

John Brooks is a British visual artist who is currently living and working in Bristol, UK. Through his photography, Brooks wishes to project a visual and emotional response that extends far beyond the pictorial. His photographs, both analogue and digital, often employ a layering affect where a subject becomes doubled or tripled, thereby creating an illusion of volume, depth and spatiality. His photographs can reflect the imposing nature of urbanism and play with perspective to create an illusory world.
His other works include well though through abstract studies and minimalist works, some architectural and some topographical.
