About this artwork
His family roots in the UK emanate from East Anglia where he has spent a lot of time exploring the coast and hinterland of the counties of Suffolk and Norfolk.
The small town of Southwold remains largely unspoilt with many historical features and buildings still in existance. This scene is of some remaining ice before thawing which lay on the beach. The semi-abstract quality appealed to him as it breaks the rules of composition of thirds and halves… but still works visually.

John Brooks is a British visual artist who is currently living and working in Bristol, UK. Through his photography, Brooks wishes to project a visual and emotional response that extends far beyond the pictorial. His photographs, both analogue and digital, often employ a layering affect where a subject becomes doubled or tripled, thereby creating an illusion of volume, depth and spatiality. His photographs can reflect the imposing nature of urbanism and play with perspective to create an illusory world.
His other works include well though through abstract studies and minimalist works, some architectural and some topographical.
