About this artwork
In this piece, I used a serene hideaway cabin nestled in nature’s embrace to bring nature indoors. The calm river, rugged rocks, and towering trees invite you to a quiet, peaceful, reflective place. Share the feeling of beauty, solitude, and the gentle energy of nature's true nature then take a moment to breathe in it's calming, restorative presence.

John Hazel, a self-taught painter hailing from rural Central California, whose works are in watercolors having cultivated talent through sketching, drawing and lifelong creative exploration. The style blends realism with imaginative interpretation, always leaving room for experimentation and whatever technique it takes to achieve the desired finished product. Works reflect life lessons using nature to conveying patience, authenticity, and quiet encouragement aimed at inspiring positive reflections.
When he picked up a brush and painted his first watercolor in 2016 at age 67 he did not comprehend the impact of that moment on his life and the new paths down which it has taken him. He never intended to embark on a path of publicly displaying or selling any of his paintings, because they were for his own enjoyment. But, a conviction developed to share beyond friends and family the grace and beauty he saw in nature and the world around us that he translated into his paintings.
