About this artwork
This painting depicts Medusa which is one of the most fascinating figures of Greek mythology. I was inspired by Medusa of Caravaggio Italian Renaissance artist. In this painting, the face actually is Caravaggio himself with a head of colourful snakes. This piece captures raw fear and chaos, with each snake writhing as a symbol of inner turmoil. Through bold strokes and vivid colors, I expressed the tension between beauty and horror. Bringing this… to your space, it radiates intense energy, provoking thought and stirring deep emotions, challenging viewers to confront what lies beneath the surface.
Jomay Tam, born in Hong Kong and based in Florence Italy. She graduated from the prestigious Libera Accademia di Belle Arte Firenze. Her paintings have been widely exhibited nationwide in Italy and internationally, e.g. London, Brussels, Barcelona, Innsbruck, Cannes, Paris etc. She specialized in classical techniques imbued with contemporary flair. She mirrors the bold hues and free brushstrokes of Impressionism, like Monet and Renoir, absorbed with the interplay of color and shape. Her explorative approach yields an abstract outcome, often using unconventional media like alcohol ink. Her artworks are vibrant, mirroring her strong convictions around color's capacity to impact mood, and they emit feelings of freshness, joy, and clarity.
