About this artwork
I finished this one in the middle of sideways rain, massive thunder and whipping wind! The power would go out, then on, and then out again making some of my studio sessions a bit on the dark side! It was certainly my first time adding finishing touches by candle and lantern light! I loved it! OLD SCHOOL!
All of the images in my recent nature works come from secluded spots I encounter on my walks or travels to Northern Michigan. My eye is continuously… drawn to the same scenes, and they are places that satiate me existentially, holy places existing for only a few moments, days or weeks. My truest intent is to visually define our temporary existence and the beauty in that impermanence using linear elements, bold color and brushstroke as my tools for conveyance. Nature is the ultimate vehicle for representing that intent since humanity is continuously subject to the everchanging constant (I know oxymoron, but true) of seasons which represent the ultimate impermanence.
