About this artwork
ARTWORK SHOWS HORIZONTALLY AND VERTICALLY.
The title says it all for this painting. What I wouldn't give to be back in the Cote d'Azure wandering the streets again taking in all that is paradise, or sitting in a Cannes cafe drinking red wine with steamed mussels and bread by the sea side.
Since it is winter I bring my compositions inside literally crushing flowers together on a flat surface. This process creates a randomness of color in juxtaposition… to the Fibonacci-esque perfection of the floral structures themselves. In particular to time, I find the end of a bloom particularly attractive to paint. The flowers seem to want to push out one last gasp of color and form before drying out and dropping their petals. It is this delicate but glorious moment I like to capture and highlighted via linear texture and touch of muddy interaction in this work.
This work, completed 12/28/19, is heavy impasto oil, and is now dry enough to travel, BUT HANDLE WITH CARE!
« Either way, my message for the viewer is simple. Enjoy my work for its visual elements. Experience the excitement of the micro, macro, and then the subliminal. Rinse and repeat. »
Jon Parlangeli is a passionate American painter and sculptor who has widely exhibited his work throughout the U.S. Fascinated by the process of creation, he composes works that experiment with color and the physicality of paint. Parlangeli's creations stand out for their depth and tactility, appearing as explosions of bright color and unexpected shapes. Parlangeli additionally includes a representational balance of nature and humanity in his work, that merges with abstract elements to create a kind of historic bibliophile hidden in the paint.
