About this artwork
“It’s a Touchy Subject” is a 60 x 40 inch mixed media work that consumed over 350 hours. The subject is deliberately provocative: an alien, an ape, and a child layered together to confront questions of creation, evolution, and the unknown. Painted in acrylic on OSB plywood, the surface carries raw texture, while the sculptural frame was salvaged from the steel core of an 80-inch TV. I hand-sanded the metal from 60-grit down to 3,000, polished it…
with steel wool and Brasso until it gleamed like a mirror. Integrated green LEDs dim and flare across the frame, shifting the mood as the room changes. Standing in front of it feels like being a bystander at a UFO departure—like an ET casually asked you to snap a photo before takeoff. This work is part painting, part sculpture, part installation. It dominates a room, demands conversation, and refuses to be ignored.
