About this artwork
“This work is a tribute to my late father, a Marine veteran and Army warrant officer who flew Hueys and Cobras in Vietnam, and later even flew with Blackwater. To me, he was the definition of a legend. The gorilla symbolizes his strength, resilience, and larger-than-life spirit, while the halo and the bold word ‘LEGEND’ honor how I saw him. The cigar is a personal detail: he smoked just one a month, because his hero General George S. Patton did the…
same. The most personal touch is the gorilla itself — he always signed his texts with ‘-PAPA🦍🇺🇸.’ Through raw colors, bold lines, and street-inspired Pop Art style, I created this piece to carry his presence forward and to celebrate the man who was, and always will be, my hero.”
