Finalist in the Wyndham Art Prize 2020, Melbourne
The marks of age are explored in the construction and deconstruction of this paint textile. Through fading of colour and gradual unraveling I aim to liken this work to a memory, still tangible yet slipping away.
The work is secured on a painted wooden panel. The work has a white painted timber frame. D rings and wire have been fitted for immediate hanging.
On the front you will find my initials.… On the back is my signature, title and year.
This painting is registered with the NRAA (National Registry for Australian Artists). Details of this registration are provided as well as a Certificate of Authenticity.

Beyond the Expected
Julee Latimer is a UK-born contemporary artist based in Melbourne, Australia, creating sculptural wall-based artworks that sit between painting, sculpture and textile. Her practice transforms paint from a traditional medium into a material for tactile, three-dimensional forms that respond to changing light, revealing shifting depths, textures and perspectives.
Latimer established an international career as a sculptural mosaic artist before completing a Bachelor of Fine Art in Sculpture and Painting at Curtin University in 2019, leading to her current practice. She is also the author of Sculptural Secrets for Mosaic (Schiffer Publishing, USA, 2017).
Her work is held in private, corporate and permanent collections internationally, including Capella Sydney, Conrad Orchard Singapore and the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, Chicago. Her practice continues to explore materiality, surface and spatial experience, challenging conventional expectations of painting.
