About this artwork
This little figure is a powerful piece. It can have many interpretations, strong willed, determined, powerful, contrary. It's meaning is often a revelation about the viewer.
It featured in several international exhibits where it was perceived as a powerful femme fatale, a representation of a strong feminine force, and most amusingly a contrarian where the viewer felt judged. The way it is perceived can be a biographical revelation about the observer.… To the artist, it is the representation of determination, a small force in the world.

« As a woman and artist, the feminine form is a recurring theme, both in my sculptural and photographic work. My art is a reflection of how I move through extraordinary and mundane experiences. »
Julia Agnes is a passionate Canadian sculptor and photographer. Her love for art began in childhood, when she would carve household soaps into little works of art. Today, she constructs figurative, observational sculptures that internalize the physical: the postures, habits and movements of human beings. Agnes conveys small familiar moments, such as a forehead wrinkling, in rich detail and with impressive focus.
