About this artwork
"One Memory, Nothing More" (Julia's painting)
In this portrait, I wanted to capture what happens to our memories – how they blur, fade, and become obscured by new layers of experience over time. It's a painting about melancholy, but also about the beauty hidden in a gaze that stays with us for a long time.
I used an unusual technique of dividing the canvas. The face emerges from behind geometric, diagonal planes, suggesting looking through a crack… in time or the ajar door of memory. This makes the portrait less obvious and forces reflection.
The most important point of the painting are the eyes. Painted with precision and depth, they carry the entire emotional charge of the work, contrasting with the almost dreamlike, blurred background.
