About this artwork
As humans, we tend to hide our true feelings, dreams and desires behind a facade. We often lack the courage to openly show and live our vulnerability and compassion. Yet it is precisely these emotions that make us human. We hide our true selves out of fear of being hurt, appearing weak or not meeting societal expectations. Many of these thoughts and fears play out in our heads and make us prisoners of our own insecurities.
However, if we have the… courage to take off our masks and show ourselves as we really are, we can free ourselves from internal and external constraints. From a strengthened inner center, we can face the challenges of today with more self-confidence and resilience.
CHANGE and TRANSFORMATION are the central themes of my art. Through the power of colors, I express invisible inner states as well as the preconscious and unconscious and make them sensually perceptible. In my works, spaces of tension arise that combine calm and movement, dynamics and tension, and in which feelings, images and associations can come to life.
I work with different techniques: colors are removed and reapplied, and I use different utensils to scratch, smear and rub the materials - all of this leaves unmistakable marks on the canvas.
Are they landscapes or people? Or are they rather independent abstractions? This uncertainty remains even after a longer viewing and invites you to develop your own perceptions and memories of the images.
