The forms draw close, almost meeting, yet remain gently apart.
There is no urgency in this gesture — only a sense of stillness, of being enough as it is.
I think about moments that do not demand attention, but quietly stay.
Like sunlight that lingers, soft and familiar, without… asking to be held.
This work reflects on a slower presence —
one that does not seek completion, but allows itself to simply exist.
Through this piece, I explore a sense of intimacy that is not directed outward, but felt within.
A reminder that not everything needs to move forward; some moments are meant to be stayed in.

Kah Yan Chai is a textile-based artist whose practice explores how we experience the world through sensing, being seen, and perceiving.
Working with hand embroidery, she constructs layered surfaces that evoke the body, the gaze, and the shifting nature of perception. Her works do not seek to define fixed meanings, but instead hold space for multiple ways of understanding.
Her recent body of work unfolds as a quiet progression—from physical sensation, to awareness of being seen, to the realisation that perception is never singular. Through this, she reflects on how identity and understanding are continuously shaped, rather than given.
