The final work resists closure. Tensions between darker and warmer tones do not resolve into opposition or dominance. Cooler hues and white introduce calm, ambiguity, and suspension. Appearances leaves the narrative open-ended, allowing the viewer to return to the first painting — back to the source — with altered perception. The series thus forms a cyclical structure, reinforcing transformation as an ongoing… relationship rather than a completed journey.
