This abstract oi painting on wood forms part of a serial of three on wood. Creating them it has been a discovery how paint changes its actitud depending of the support. The wooden support here allowed movements of the paint and oil-bars that a work on canvas does not allow. The circle forms hardly could be stopped and painting became as a kind of bucle approaching the sense of the universe. The results were really amazing.

« I consider myself as a traveller and observer, expressing my reality and relation with the universe through painting. »
Karel Stoop (b. 1951, Made, the Netherlands) is a Dutch abstract painter whose emotionally intuitive, layered compositions explore transformation, perception and the human condition. Educated in the Netherlands and Barcelona, his artistic vision has been shaped by international experiences, extensive travel and a sustained interest in existential questions.
Working in oils and pigments, Stoop develops a physical, process-driven approach to painting, using unconventional and industrial tools to build complex surfaces through gesture, layering and experimentation. His process balances intuition and reflection, allowing images to emerge through the interaction of material, movement and emotion.
His artistic sensibility resonates with the expressive power of J. M. W. Turner and Claude Monet, as well as the material intensity of Anselm Kiefer and the psychological depth of Francis Bacon. Through abstraction, Stoop moves beyond literal representation, creating paintings that invite viewers
