In this artwork, art merges with symbolic realism and metaphysical elements. Using watercolors, pencil and colored pencils, I capture the deep connection between nature and human existence. The integration of organic forms and subtle color nuances reflects the transformation of nature and its immense beauty.
The tree on the left appears strong and firmly rooted in its stone form. It is borrowed from a tree relief on the outside façade of the Milan… Cathedral. Its crown is heavy with an abundance of apples (pomegranates from paradise?). While these are only drawn in pencil, they also appear in color in the transparent circle.
This creates a connection to the autumnal beech tree. Its bark is designed in various shades of grey to emphasise the golden foliage even more. This golden autumn foliage creates a connection to the filigree gold embroidery of a palm tree on the coronation robe of Roger II of Sicily, 1134.
« Vanitas resonates in the allegria about the beauty of creation. This calls for striving to preserve the unique creation with gratitude and humility! »
Karin Steffek-Moravia has received major international awards and attracted considerable attention with her exhibitions worldwide. In addition to exploring socio-political issues, particularly environmental protection, she creates "hymns to the beauty of creation" with her transparent, watercolor-based pencil and colored pencil drawings. Steffek-Moravia also skillfully explores spiritual and mystical themes, blending yesterday and today into a compelling harmony.
