About this artwork
"California Dream" is one of my surreal-realistic-dreamy works; it is a quasi-collage that came into being after a visit to the USA, specifically the west of the USA.
Although this painting is almost hyper-realistic, the streets of San Francisco, the coast of California, and the hills of Utah seem unrealistic. I used a firm, courageously arranged colour scheme.
An integral part is a red frame I designed myself.
On the inside of the frame are… two inscriptions:
1. "California is a fine place to live if you happen to be an orange (Woody Allen).
2. "There is science, logic, and reason; thought is verified by experience. And then there is California (Edward Abbey).
