Katharina Wahlefeld

Germany

Studied and graduated with distinction from the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, under Prof. Axel Kasseböhmer and Prof. Günther Förg.
The central theme of my art is the examination of the skin as an interface between self and world, between inside and outside, as a place where encounters take place.
The artistic representation of active and passive skin senses and skin imaginations, as well as the interplay of visual perceptions and tactile experiences, play the main role.
Human experience is joined by the experience of nature.
My work focuses on subtle and sensitive perceptions and imaginations.
Through constant patterns of action and reaction, I work out individual parts in order to put them into correspondence with each other as a whole.
Collage is the technique I have found to be the most harmonious way to combine slow, imaginative seeing with material sensuality.
