About this artwork
The title of this work is "Circus - The Circus". I deliberately played with the feeling of movement, exaggeration and a certain amount of chaos - just as you know it from the circus: loud, colorful, a little crazy and entertaining.
The image is geometrically structured, but not in a conventional way. Clear forms meet free, playful elements. Circles, lines, and planes interlock, while large, shiny dots are scattered across them like tiny actors.… They stand out clearly on the surface, lending an almost playful dynamism to the image.
I'm working here with acrylics on canvas; the surface is sealed. This gives the colors, and especially the dots, a slight depth and a vibrant sheen.
Despite its clear basic structure, the whole thing remains in motion. There's no rigid system, but rather a deliberate interplay of shapes and colors. For me, it's a fun image that catches the eye and instantly enlivens a space.
