About this artwork
The painting is an abstract acrylic painting on canvas in a large format (140x240x2cm). The many gradations of turquoise tones are dominant, surrounding a multi-layered "weave" of predominantly delicate pastel rose, pink, gray and orange tones. This is superimposed by dark blue-grey gestural lines that break through the fabric. Neon pink peeks through again and again. The highly pigmented colors are sometimes dense, sometimes applied transparently,… so that the painting has a very great depth. The picture conveys an enormous liveliness and pulsating energy. The gestural lines connect the surfaces with each other. Everything seems to be related and influence each other. The title "Ingenuity" refers to this and to the positive dynamic inherent in the picture.
The work is framed in a white wooden floating frame.

Katja Gramann is a German artist whose painting follows the tradition of Art Informel. All of her works are consistently abstract. Her works have been exhibited in Germany in numerous solo and group events. Katja Gramann has also been successfully represented by a gallery in Belgium since 2022. Her participation in a summer exhibition at the Royal Academy of Art in London in 2022 also brought her international recognition. The artist pursues three styles in her painting: acrylic painting, mixed media (using ash, pigments, rock flour, charcoal, rust, and paper), and abstract collages made of fine Chinese paper, which Gramann colors herself, dries, and then arranges into a painting in a multi-layered process. Since 2021, Katja Gramann has been teaching painting at independent art academies in Vienna, Kolbermoor, and Bad Heilbrunn.
