About this artwork
This work is a reference to the artist's architectural training and a tribute to the lasting fascination with spaces designed by an architect Gunnar Asplund. In his view, a library building can be seen as a temple of knowledge. Experiencing it's circular interior almost constructed by books can evoke a deeply spiritual moment.
This piece was carved in one go. It was inspired by a photograph of a large 1:10 interior model of the Stockholm Public… Library. The model was created by the students of the Technical University of Delft.

Kaya Heyman is a painter and printmaker with a foundation in architecture, working intuitively across drawing, painting, and linocut printmaking. She explores abstraction and symbolism, layering inks and mixed media with expressive, meditative techniques that allow intuition and subconscious imagery to surface. Her art embodies the cycles of transformation in the natural world and seeks to awaken personal reflection, wonder, and a sense of inner renewal in her viewers.
